YORKSHIRE BUSINESSMEN SHORTLISTED FOR PRESTIGIOUS INDUSTRY AWARD

Yorkshire-based businessmen, Steve Rowbottom and Marc Westerman, Directors of the 10-strong hairdressing and beauty salon group, Westrow, have been revealed as finalists in this year’s inaugural British Hairdressing Business Awards 2017. Sponsored and hosted by Hairdressers Journal International, the duo have been finalised for the energy, drive, and exceptional business acumen that they have shown in their role as business directors.

The shortlisting in the Business Director category is even more fantastic recognition for the duo, as they celebrate 30 years in business this year and continually strive to create a global brand that is synonymous with first class hairdressing services and educational offerings.

Westrow is no stranger to the awards circuit, and during its 30-year reign in business, has won and been finalised in more than 75 industry awards and accolades. Marc and Steve are now gearing up to go head to head with five other big hitters from the UK’s hairdressing world, and will find out the results on Monday 11 September 2017.

The awards, which are now in their 19th year, seek to find and celebrate the very best salon businesses in the country – an industry that contributes an estimated £7bn to the British economy and one that employs more than 300,000 people.

With 17 categories celebrating all aspects of the business side of hair, the awards are a proven platform for raising a salon’s profile. Even finalising in one of the prestigious categories marks a business out as one of the finest providers in the country; a win catapults them to the very top, providing unrivalled recognition that they are at the pinnacle of their profession and raising their profile to give an edge over competitors.

Business Director of the Year is the ultimate accolade on the night and celebrates the best business thinker in the hairdressing industry. They’re a driving force behind a salon business; forward thinkers, entrepreneurs and strategists.

Marc Westerman, Director, Westrow said: “Showing that we are a serious business contender within our sector is important for us; we are naturally known for our creativity as hairdressers, but the art of commerce is key to any successful business and we are delighted to be recognised by HJ’s award system in this way. We have won this award twice before and feel that our 30th anniversary is the perfect year to try for a hat-trick.

“We’re incredibly proud of what we do as a business and this is such a rewarding honour.”

Says HJ’s Executive Director, Jayne Lewis-Orr: “Promoting professionalism, innovation and excellence, the British Hairdressing Business Awards recognise those individuals and teams who work tirelessly to raise the profile and stature of this industry, and make it one of which we can all be proud.

She adds: “The Business Director of the Year Award is presented to someone who’s truly making a difference to the hairdressing industry with their wide ranging skill set. It recognises fantastic commitment and passion for the craft, and we are delighted to recognise these individuals.”
