Yorkshire salon group, Westrow, which boasts an educational academy and ten salons across the county, is celebrating after winning a prestigious Salon Business award in the Education Salon category.
The Salon Business awards celebrate the very best of hairdressing, rewarding the brightest business minds, entrepreneurs, creatives and innovators within the industry.
Westrow’s multi-award-winning state-of-the-art educational centre of excellence, Westrow Academy, housed on Briggate in Leeds, scooped up the award for its commendable training policies. The £1 million investment to launch the Academy, in November 2013, has seen the company grow to become one of the most established and recognised training facilities in the UK, able to house 240 students at any one time and attracting some of the biggest names in the business.
The judges were wowed by Westrow’s training and mentoring programmes and how the interactive academy implements policies to ensure it offers unrivalled education to its own students and the industry at large.
Steve Rowbottom director of Westrow said: “It was a huge honour to win the Salon Business Award for Education Salon of the Year. Education has always been key to Westrow’s growth strategy since we launched 30 years ago; it’s at the heart of what we do and the launch of the Westrow Academy in 2014 was a vast investment within an area of the industry we feel very passionate about. Striving to maintain standards is crucial in hairdressing, and winning was the industry benchmark for us; it’s an accolade that proves we deliver exemplary results and have achieved in our aim of establishing it as a centre of educational excellence in the north. Winning this award will be hugely beneficial to us as we move forward, generating confidence, encouraging even higher standards and helping to motivate existing employees, while attracting a better calibre of new ones.”
